A Mediterranean Cruise To Florence Or Rome

By: Michael Russell

Article Word Count: 515

A trip to Florence or Rome by a Mediterranean cruise ship is an awesome way to spend the summer, both places have so much to see, and it takes days to see it all. You should take every member of your family because they will enjoy this trip. You will still have a great time even if you do not know the language; if you know a few important words, you will be ok. Although it is a great vacation destination, you still need to plan so everyone will be organized; if you do this, you will have more fun and less confusion.

Once your Mediterranean cruise ship arrives in the city of your choice, you will be amazed how beautiful it is; you will want to start touring right way, but before you do, you must make a plan. Simply ask every family member what he or she wants to see and have everyone decide as a group. You should not go separate ways for one good reason; the cities are completely new to everyone, and someone can easily get lost. Instead, stay together, and find out if everyone wants to tour the area alone or with a tour guide. One can do a tour, by taxi, without a guide in Rome; it costs $50.00 per person. If you have a large family, this can get very expensive. In Florence, you can tour without a guide by train and generally walk to the main sites. If everyone wants to tour alone, you should defiantly choose Florence because it is much smaller and compact. Although it is compact, you still need more than a day to see everything; Rome is even bigger and it takes even more days to see it all. If you or someone in your family knows the language well, ask someone from the city about the locations of the famous sites. The locals are happy to help tourists, so if your family is touring alone, do not hesitate to ask for help. If you hire a guide, you will get to see a lot more because the guide knows how to find the main sites quicker, so you if only have a few hours to sightsee, hire a tour guide.

Sightseeing is important because you get to learn the area, so make sure you bring a camera, preferably a digital camera, because it can take more pictures. If you want to see as much as possible, you will not have time to sit and eat; this is why many tourists like to eat on the run. When you finish sightseeing, you can stop at a nearby store to buy some souvenirs to remind you of the great time you had. Do not try to visit every site during your first trip, save something for the next time you return, because you will defiantly want to take another Mediterranean cruise to Florence or Rome again.

Florence and Rome are great places to visit if you take a Mediterranean cruise; each area has many sites to keep tourist returning year after year.
